Most home offices fail on acoustics, not aesthetics. A hollow-core door and an uninsulated interior wall let every household sound straight through, and no amount of shelving fixes that.
The second failure is light. A window behind a monitor produces glare; a window behind the chair produces it on camera. Position the desk first, then plan the lighting.
